How to pay with Apple Pay

You can use Apple Pay to pay in stores, in apps, on the web, and more.


With your iPhone or Apple Watch, you can use Apple Pay in stores, restaurants, gas stations, taxis, or anywhere else you see one of these symbols. (APPLE PAY LOGO)

Billing with your iPhone

Using the default map
 - On an iPhone with Face ID, double-click the side button. To open Apple Wallet, authenticate with Face ID or enter your passcode when prompted.
 - On an iPhone with Touch ID, double-click the home button.
To use a different map, tap the default map and the other maps will be displayed. Tap the new card and authenticate it.
Hold the top of your iPhone near the contactless reader until Done and a check mark appear on the display.

Billing with your Apple Watch device

 - Double click on the side button.
 - Default map opens automatically. Scroll down to select another map.
 - Hold the Apple Watch device display close to the contactless reader until you feel light movement and hear a beep.

Pay with Apple Pay online or in apps

You can use Apple Pay to pay online in Safari2,3 or in apps if Apple Pay is shown as a payment option.

 - Tap the Apple Pay button or choose Apple Pay as a payment method.
 - To pay with a different card, tap the Next or Expand Menu button next to the default card.
 - Enter billing information, shipping information and contact information if required. Apple Pay stores this information so you don't have to re-enter it.
 - Confirm the payment.
 - On an iPhone or iPad with Face ID: Double-click the side button, then use Face ID or enter a passcode.
 - On an iPhone or iPad without Face ID: Use Touch ID or enter a passcode.

- On Apple Watch: Double-click the side button.
 - On a Mac with Touch ID: Follow the instructions on the Touch Bar and place your finger on Touch ID. If Touch ID is turned off, tap the Apple Pay icon in the Touch Bar and follow the onscreen instructions.
 - On a Mac without Touch ID: Confirm the payment on a Bluetooth-connected iPhone or Apple Watch. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID on all your devices.
 - If the payment is successful, the text Done and a check mark appear on the screen.

 - The merchant must accept not only Apple Pay, but also your payment card and payment network.
